Financing for water infrastructure, public utilities, and drinking water has become an important area for development finance agencies as concerns about water quality and aging management systems have increased. With the U.S. EPA’s recent announcement about the Water Infrastructure Financing and Innovation Act (WIFIA) making $1 billion available for credit assistance, new opportunities are emerging to address the nation’s critical investment needs in water and waste water.
